Ideas / 概念
In terms of imagery, the "I painted a portrait for ...." series consists of pencil works depicting human faces. The human faces are constructed from dense strokes and color blocks. Regarding the title of the works, "I painted a portrait for ...." is itself vague and non-referential. The identity of the figures in the paintings cannot be determined, and there are no clues in their clothing to prove their identity. Therefore, the focus shifts from the individuals to the portraits and then to the art of painting. The uniqueness of portraiture lies in the fact that it is a form of painting organized around a face.
A portrait exists as a visible image but is contained within itself, transcending the external appearance and delving into the internal and spiritual. The objective explored by "I painted a portrait for ...." is humanity itself, and it directly addresses the existence of individuals, their status as self-being.
「為…繪畫肖像」系列創作於 2017 年至 2022 年間,以鉛筆和紙為媒介。創作最初的目的是為了紀念年長的家人,但逐漸成為我所重視的主題。在創作的早期階段,肖像畫更多的是基於照片的目的驅動。到了後期,模仿帶來的刺激越來越少,更轉向對自己和繪畫藝術的反思,這也是我看重它的主要原因。
在圖像方面,「為…繪畫肖像」系列由描繪人臉的鉛筆作品組成。人臉是由密集的筆畫和色塊構成的。關於作品的標題,「為…畫肖像」本身就很模糊且沒有參考意義。畫中人物的身份無法確定,他們的服裝也沒有任何線索證明他們的身份。因此,焦點從個人轉移到肖像,然後轉移到繪畫藝術。肖像畫的獨特之處在於它是一種圍繞著臉部組織的繪畫形式。
肖像作為可見的圖像而存在,但又包含在其自身之中,超越外在的表象,深入探究內在和精神。 《為…畫肖像》所探討的目標是人性本身,它直接面對個體的存在、個體的自我狀態。
